InterService Physician Assistant Program - What Is It
The army offers well qualified soldiers at all levels of rank; ROTC candidates, enlisted soldiers, warrant officers and other qualified officers the to become a Physician Assistant through the Interservice Physician Assistant training program. This offers an individual the opportunity to serve society in many ways by becoming more than they may have even though about when they first enlisted. Physician Assistants (PA) are key members of the healthcare team and offer a wide range of medical and healthcare services usually performed by physician. When you successfully complete the program at Masters' level you will receive your degree from the University of Nebraska and will receive a commission as a 1LT in the Army Medical Specialist Corp.
Physician Assistant Job Description
As a The Interservice Physician Assistant, you'll perform the same functions as a doctor or a nurse might perform. You will often be asked to handle all but the most complex cases. Your typical duties could include the:
Ordering, analyzing and interpreting of diagnostic and lab tests
Prescribing of medication
Functioning as primary health care providers who work with physicians on a referral or consultation basis, This would include examining and treating patients
You may also take on managerial duties, supervising various medical staff and ordering supplies.
